Me, too! I think I'm actually going to start a wardrobe project for the blog, where I document the process of developing a thoughtful collection of clothes. Maybe a project that would be interesting for you, too? :)

i know exactly what you mean. whenever i buy something new i always wear it and wonder what the heck i wore before i even bought that item!

i go through phases where i just want a whole new look - usually afrter perusing ashion magazines like elle and nylon.

i would start small and work your way up! piece by piece.

I know exactly what you mean. When I moved to a different city, I did a total overhaul of my wardrobe. I may have fewer pieces now, but I love them and wear them more. It's good to change things up every once in a while.

i go through that about once a month! i look in my intensely packed closet, and think that I have ABSOLUTELY nothing to wear! I recently moved and my closet is teeny, tiny, so I had to sell a lot of my clothes!

Well,
There are still good sales going on! Picked up a couple of beautiful Mayle dresses at Barney's here in LA for a song (over 75% off!!!).
My new rule for anything I purchase, if I don't absolutely love it, or need it, it's not coming into my house.

I agree with Jennifer -- You must LOVE it to take it home. I also recommend checking out Simple Lovely's Jocelyn's idea of her "uniform" ... I figured out that I have one, too: A longish t-shirt, usually burn-out; a shortish sweater, usually a bright color; wide-leg jeans; cowboy boots; a fancy piece of jewelry. It's my go-to look.

She's actually Joslyn. My mistake :)

jeana,
I almost forgot: You really should check out my friend Camille's store Lady in Eagle Rock. Almost everything is about $20-150. She has a great eye. I posted about her shop on my blog http://ermieblog.blogspot.com/2009/01/lady.html

It's funny cos i'd love to buy nice affordable vintage clothes but it's just impossible here in Singapore!! Maybe you should sell them away and get a whole new wardrobe!! I wouldn't mind buying:P Good luck with shopping!
