i made this painting in 2006 for my solo show at giant robot NY and the image was on the postcard.
last night i got a very sweet email from a guy from berlin. he said he was in NYC in 2006 and saw my postcard. it was four weeks after his daughter was born and the postcard became very meaningful for him and his wife. during his daughter's birth he was watching out of a window of the hospital and there was a fox sitting in the garden watching up to the window. the baby girl had a heart disease and was born with a blue face. She got an operation and now she is healthy and everything is fine.
first of all, i'm so glad that the baby's healthy now. i'm so happy that this weird painting with a blue face girl is special to somebody.

such a beautiful story.
wow that amazing. i love little connections that happen like that. images do mean alot to people.
such a special story...my heart feels warmed.
I have this postcard and I love it. Very beautiful. Love the story x
I've used this postcard as a bookmark for three years. I've always wished I could have a large version above my bed. (It's for a less beautiful reason for me, though: The girl looks like and is dressed like me, and the fox looks like my dog, and the patterns at the bottom mirror almost exactly the quilts on my bed. Eerie in a way, but not half so beautiful as the story just posted.)
anonymous is cute...
