*the Freak show*
So basically HBT pulled out stuff that she hasn't worn for a long time and we separated that pile to Yes, Alter, Maybe, No.
She had a lot of clothes (some are not pictured) that she had bought before she lost some weight. They were mostly dresses that were too loose on her current fit bod. So we got rid of a bunch of them and kept a few beautiful pieces for alteration.
She also had some outdated pieces that were just sitting in her closet for years -- like tailored wide pants she used to wear in NYC and an Urban Outfitter dress she wore at her college graduation (she kept it for sentimental reasons).
There were some pieces that she wasn't sure that I absolutely loved and thought she should keep. There were also some great ones that she had worn to death and was just over them. I suggested she give them a year break and try them again next year.
YES

ALTER

MAYBE

NO!

*Happy ending*
1. The closet can breath and has room for new stuff.
2. She found some old pieces she totally forgot about.
3. She took the "NO"s to the resale store and made some good $$.
4. She used the $$ for some good summer staples she didn't have in her closet.
How are your closets? Do you need a closet clean out?

"but it was still a fun freak show" is my favorite part. followed by the cleanse in hand.
laughing hard right now.

this was an awesome idea for a post! this is totally what I do for my clients as a service and it is sooo rewarding for both them and me. i travel too :)
loving your blog,
Lisa
Have I told you, you are gorgeous? Well, you are. Just thought you should know that.
i loved the gold dress in the maybe pile! don't give it up! xk
i love it. love it. but i own one of the pieces in her no group, so i was a bit heartbroken there.
maybe #28 can be donated to a lucky pilgrim lady. ;) xo.
this is all very good. i see a companion to the visit series. :) xox
It seems like everyone is clearing out their closets and getting ready for summer. How do I like to keep my clothes? Just on a rack and sticking to basics. Yesterday I posted all about my summer staples and how I stay organized.
P.S. Love that nail polish color that Heather's wearing.
Heather should wear again no. 10, 11 and 13. it's totally her style and the colours are gorgeous!
I love the calypso dress on her! and I adore her style. What a fun post!
So fab! When can you make a trip to the East Coast???? LOL!!! Also, Heather should consider keeping some of the "Alter" items as-is for when the baby comes...Just a thought! Be fashionable and comfy!!!
#28 is insane! where did that come from???
#24 is interesting. I think if you make a deep v-cut in the front, it could be elegant.
keep #14! Or bring it to shy wild clothing swap!
Love this ladies. My fave pic is #20, I can hear HBT laughing...ha.
talk about a bunch of closetsss! this is such a perfect collaboration. Heather with her winning poses and Jeana with her mega honesty. LOVE it.
so funny!
huh, i do like #17, 19, 33 and 34 from the NO list, and do not like #2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 13 an 14 from the YES and MAYBE list.
i do agree that #24 is somehow insane.

Wow! I'm impressed by the amount of NO's. It's so hard for me to get rid of things. Honest-to-goodness about 90% of my clothes are vintage and thrift.
I too, recently lost weight, and some dresses things just sadly don't look good anymore. I'm trying to figure out which things to alter and which to just get rid of...do you know a good tailor on the eastside?
Awesome post. I would have been so cranky trying on all that stuff. I need to purge my closet BIGTIME!
#20! so special. this is such a fun post! will you please do an update when you get the alterations back? xxx
too bad on #34. it's flattering and looked comf in the pic :) but impressed at the good amount she was able to part with!
lol I have #15 in the MAYBE section too!!!! I have it in pink and still love it.....I think she should give it another try! I usually wear with flats or over knee boots and still get compliments plus her yellow dress looks great with her tan.
Anyway, how fun!

Yes, I liked 43 on her :( Too bad it got a "NO".
call me crazy, but I LOVE closet-cleanouts. love doing them, and love reading about them. it must've been pretty daunting but also very satisfying to clean out such a large wardrobe!
Good way to make extra $$. I bet women everywhere could do this..most of the maybe's and no's actually looked really good.
also, this does seem like a sister series to Closet Visit.
I have MAJOR dress envy! Great post!
Yes! I need a serious closet clean out, it's on my to-do list.
jeana, suggestion: why don't you have your friends sell their things on your blog when the are cleaning out their closets, so all your faithful followers can have first dibs?! i would loooove that...just a thought. deb
Love it! I definitely believe in editing...
My 'yes' pile would be...
34, 19, 18 they are in the 'no' pile, but seem to flatter her. In the pics, may be hard to tell, but the gray/red combo (18) is really accentuating her figure and looks clean and modern. (19) who cannot use a simple black dress - this one seems to fit better than 23, (34) again, maybe not seeing something in the photo, but looks flattering and comfortable and hard to go wrong with black and navy. 33 looks to fit well... a maybe?
from the 'yes' 1, 2 and 4 are great. 4 - wow, love the print. and maybe 3 (if you are going maxi, you may not want such a high neckline on top??) 5, is that Vena Cava, it is a nice piece, but I think not the most flattering. 6 doesn't seem to fit well, could be just the photo.
from the 'alter', maybe 9, but resell 7 and 8.
from the 'maybe' keep 11, 12, 14, 15 The print on 12 looks great and it is really flattering. 14 rocks the figure as well. 10, maybe just the hands in the pockets, but doesn't flatter and 13, i too adore a mexican frock, but the fit seems off on this one.
ok, totally went overboard on the comment. shouldn't drink grüner and read blogs!
I love all of the "yes" photos!
