Good bye sweet kitty
My cat Nylon passed away Saturday morning. She was only 8 years old. She had been battling with Chronic kidney (renal) failure and it had been an emotional roller coaster for us.
Nylon was always popular with our guests. Everyone said she was the sweetest kitty ever. She loved to be around people,, she loved to be petted. (even when she was sick..) I remember the first day we met her at an adoption. We already had a dog so we had no intentions of adopting a kitten but we saw her among a bunch of other kittens and were smitten. Her coloring was different and she was smaller than others. They said she was an orphan and some mommy cat had adopted her and fed her along with her own babies. Also her original name was Cookie Monster and we thought that didn't fit her at all! Her beautiful pale green eyes and a little dot on her pink nose stole our hearts, so we took her home that day and named her Nylon. For some reason she thought our dog Choco was her mom and one of the funniest memories we have is her trying to nurse on her adopted Shitzu mommy.
I had no idea it would be this hard to lose a pet. I miss her terribly and the house feels so empty without her. I'm gonna try to think it's nature and she's in kitty heaven. Brad, Choco, Pepe and I will keep only happy memories with her and move on with her in our hearts.
I love you, my little Nylon. Thanks for the 8 years of your sweetness and love.
Rest in peace.

so sorry for your loss! it's so hard to lose a pet--they are truly a member of the family.
This is the first time I have commented but have been a reader for a long time. I am so sorry to hear about Nylon. It is just devastating - my worst nightmare. I believe it is as sad as losing a family member. Our pets are so much a part of our lives - how could it not be overwhelming. I am so, so sorry.
jeana, i am so sorry for your loss but i can also relate. my cat heidi has been dealing with lung cancer for the past few months and we will be putting her to sleep tomorrow. she has very similar coloring to nylon with the right side of her face being brown and the left side being orange, but she is an american shorthair. her 14th birthday is on valentine's day but we are having an early birthday party for her tonight. just remember that you are not alone and i will remember the same!
Oh, I am so very sorry. Losing an adored fury companion is the worst kind of loss I have experienced.
I am a cat-lady and I lost one of my 14 1/2 yo boys a year ago and I still cry every day. Ugh.
*tight hugs*
RIP Nylon
xx
I never knew how much I would love a pet until I got Gloria, my cat. I'm not afraid to call her my own. She's my baby.
I genuinely feel really sad when other pets who I have never met personally become hurt or pass away. I remember reading your blog two or three years ago and came across this post you made about how Nylon would purr and be so happy whenever you had to cut her nails.
I'm sorry for your loss. I hope Nylon is in a better place.
I am so sorry for your loss. I too lost my kitty after a 4yr battle with kidney disease. I know how much it hurts to lose a member of the family. I felt all the emotions you described so beautifully in your post. It makes me sad for you. So sorry you have to go through this. I'll be sending warm thoughts your way.
So sorry to hear that. RIP, little kitty.

Beautiful Nylon. So sorry, Jeana.
I'm so sorry Jeana. I hope you can take comfort in knowing that you gave Nylon such a loving, happy home.
Nylon seems like she was a wonderful kitty, and I'm sorry for your loss. I lost a kitty to kidney failure about 6 months ago too and understand how sad it is to loose a good friend. It's good to talk about her- you are not alone in your grief and have plenty of readers who support you!
oh, that made me so sad. i´m so sorry for you :( what a beautiful cat she was.
my cats will be 13 this year and i´m not at all prepared to the fact that someday they´ll be gone...
oh jeana i am so sorry. i love how you said that you will take the happy memories and move on with her in your hearts. so beautiful. she has such a sweet little face and i hope you find peace knowing she's not in pain. xoxo

What a beautiful photo of an obviously special kitty. I'm sorry for your loss, losing a pet is incredibly hard. I'm sure her greatness will live on in your memory!
I'm so sorry to hear this, she was a beautiful cat! I understand exactly what you're going through because I lost my dalmatian a couple of years ago, and she'd been with us for most of my life. It does get easier, I promise.
:(
I am so sorry.
I'm so sorry! Remember her as in this beautiful picture. She's not in pain anymore, find peace on that. xo
Ana
It sounds like she a wonderful life with you
Your story about Nylon was touching. I lost my Wrigley girl kitty about 2 years ago and I still miss her deeply, she was 18 when she passed and was literally born into my hands.
Your Nylon and my Wrigley are probably cat napping and eating salmon together in kitty heaven :)
So sorry about your loss, she was beautiful.
So sorry Jeana, yes, losing a pet you love is a huge loss, and it can come as a surprise if it's the first time. I've lost many dogs over the years, old age, etc. and it doesn't get any easier.
She was a beautiful cat, and I can tell, full of personality. I imagine your house feels quite empty right now.
Sending love and light.
Soul mates ... Oh, I feel your pain.
I'm sorry for your loss, Jeana. Rest in peace, Nylon♥
Nylon - even though we had our "issues" over the years, I still really loved you. RIP, sweet kitty, the friendliest cat I've ever met.
Also, you made me fall in love with Jeana Sohn due to your antics. See below:

Nylon was the sweetest. I'll miss her a lot, especially if I ever do another Kitchen Visit at your house--I have so many photos of her because she kept jumping in front of the camera!
Really really really sorry, Jeana.
There is a certain emptiness you feel when you lose all that sweetness, all that unconditional love. Nylon was a gift for your hearts, and you were everything to her. You will carry her in your hearts forever. That's the good side of it. She will ALWAYS be with you. And that is a TREMENDOUS honor.
i;m so sorry for your loss. :(
Reading this makes me feel at peace, as I too lost my cat this saturday. The way you have described nylon is the same way i would have described my cat, friendly even when he was the most sick. I was just thinking about how i read so many blogs and never see anyone post about losing a pet, seeing this makes me remember that everyone experiences loss and we can all become stronger because of it. I hope you can find comfort in this and know you are not alone. It is difficult but you can get through it.
Dear Jeana,
All the sweetest thoughts for you..
Even if it is "just" a pet, sorrow is big when loosing a living being which provides so much free love and tenderness.
I guess we all are co-grieving

I am so so sorry. I have 3 cats and I call them my "fur babies". I know how hard it is to loose a pet and I am keeping you and your family in my thoughts.
sorry for your loss jeana. i know the feeling of losing a sweet pet. nylon is definitely in kitty heaven. :)
i'm so sorry. i know what it means to lose a pet.
oh, jeana! i'm so sorry! losing a pet is so, so hard. i think one of the most difficult things (in my experience) is that other people don't expect it to take such an emotional toll and so you're expected to take it in stride (show up to work the next day, etc.), when in fact it is almost as difficult as losing a human loved one. i lost my first cat, frances, when she was only 8 years old too. she looked a little like nylon, pale green-eyed and fluffy with similar markings on her face.
feel better!
what a beautiful post full of wonderful memories.
thank you for sharing
you and Nylon are in my thoughts!
xo-L
rest in peace, dear nylon.
she had a wonderful life, i'm sure :)
That is a beautiful picture of Nylon. I am so sorry she is no longer with you. Your post made me cry.
It sounds like you kept her safe and happy and well loved while she was with you.
xo
I'm so so sorry to hear about Nylon. It is so hard to lose a friend like that. She was sure a pretty little kitty.
Love to you and your family. I'm going to hug m kitties now. xoxoxo
Also a first-time commenter and long-time reader. So sorry for your loss, I also know how it feels to lose a beloved pet to illness. Dear Nylon, rest in peace.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I have lost 2 people and 2 cats in the last 9 months. Losing a pet is just as devastating as losing a family member. Their love is unconditional and will be missed dearly. Not a day goes by without thinking of them. Rest in peace, Nylon kitty.
I'm so very sorry.
I'm so sorry you lost your kitty. What a wonderful 8 years she must have had with you.
i'm so sorry for your loss. she looks beautiful in this photograph xx

I really feel for you and am so sorry. My dog is battling kidney failure right now too so I can relate. It is a hard thing for sure.
I cried reading your post... I lost a little cat a few years ago too...
Jeana, I've never commented, but I felt compelled now since I lost my kitty too, a few months back. I was shocked at how awful I felt. Wishing you the best.
She is beautiful.
I'm so sorry for you. RIP Nylon.

Pets provide such warmth in our lives; i'm really sorry for your loss.
I cried reading your text. I've been through the same situation several times and it is always difficult as it was the first time. my feelings are with you. Nylon is in heaven and I'm sure she did not want to see you sad. So keep strong for Nylon.
